Near the village of Bellano, on the Lecco branch of Lake Como, there is a spectacular natural gorge that can be explored thanks to suspended walkways fixed to one of the rock walls of the canyon.

ABBAZIA DI PIONA

It is one of the most charming points of interest in the area, thanks to the history of the church and the natural beauty of the surroundings. There are numerous frescoes and painting cycles that deserve to be admired. Inside the cloister, there is a perfectly preserved fresco from the 15th century depicting the apparition of Christ to the Madonna. Open all year round. Distance from the hotel: 8km.

FORTE DI FUENTES

It is a military construction (1600) located on the hill of Montecchio or Monteggiolo in the alluvial plain formerly called Pian di Colico. The fort extends over several levels and has an elongated shape with horn-shaped works at different ends. When active, the fort could accommodate over 300 armed men. Distance from the hotel: 3km.

FORTE MONTECCHIO NORD

The only Italian fortress, Forte di Montecchio Nord, was built between 1911 and 1914, during the time of the Great War, and served as a strategic military point for controlling the surrounding areas. Since 2009, it has housed the Museum of the White War, where visitors can admire all the weapons that were prepared, such as the four large cannons with a range of 14 kilometers. The museum spans two levels connected by an evocative curved gallery. Distance from the hotel: 1.5 km.

SENTIERO VALTELLINA

The cycling path along the Adda River connects Colico to Bormio along a 114 km route. The trail starts from the town center, following the lakeside, and then ventures into the splendid wildlife reserve of Pian di Spagna. Info: sentiero.valtellina.it / distance from the hotel: 900 m.

BY CAR

From Milan: follow SS36 until the Colico/Piona exit. Turn right and follow the signs to the town center. After about 3 km, once you have passed the Esso service station, turn right onto Via Legnone.

From Bergamo: follow SP342 to Lecco. Take SS36 towards Colico/Sondrio until the Piona/Colico exit. Turn right and follow the signs to the town center. After about 3 km, once you have passed the Esso service station, turn right onto Via Legnone.

From Sondrio: take SS38 to the center of Colico. After passing the train station, continue for about 300m. You will find us on the left side of the road.

From Como: take the “Regina” road SS340 towards Menaggio/Sorico. Once you cross SS36, take the direction to Colico. After passing the train station, continue for about 300m. You will find us on the left side of the road.

BY TRAIN

Colico can be reached in about 1.5 hours from Milan by regional train. From Bergamo, you need to reach Lecco and change trains. Once you exit the station, turn right and continue for about 300m. You will find us on the left side of the road. For schedule information, visit: www.trenord.it.

BY PLANE

From Malpensa and Linate, reach Milan’s Central Station and take the train towards Lecco-Sondrio-Tirano. From Orio al Serio, you can reach Bergamo station, take the train to Lecco, and then change for Sondrio-Tirano.

BY BOAT
